Are you looking to develop your knowledge, skills and practice in working with clients presenting with trauma?
This course is mapped to the APA New Haven trauma competencies for working with psychological trauma. These eight cross-cutting competencies deliver empirically informed knowledge, skills, and attitudes that a therapist should have when working with traumatised clients.
Accredited by CPCAB, you will learn how to:
Work safely, legally and ethically as a trauma practitioner
Use understanding of trauma to monitor aspects of the therapeutic relationship
Understand and work with diversity as a trauma counsellor
Use a trauma-informed approach to respond to the needs of individual clients
Work with self-awareness as a trauma practitioner.
Use theory, research, and skills within a trauma framework for counselling practice
Monitor and maintain professional effectiveness as a trauma practitioner

This course will take place online via Zoom for seven of the ten weekends and will take place in-person for the first, middle and last weekend.
The in-person venue is in the process of being confirmed, but will be located in North Hampshire/Surrey.

Students applying to this course must be qualified counsellors/ psychotherapists, holding full membership with a PSA accredited professional body (e.g., BACP, NCPS, UKCP, etc.).
Applicants must hold at least 200hrs of supervised clinical hours.
Applicants must have accured at least 40hrs of personal therapy during the course of their counselling training.
Students must also be in a sufficiently emotionally stable and positive place within which to safely explore and challenge their own reactions/thoughts and self-awareness within a group setting.
Students must demonstrate a commitment to understanding and engaging with therapeutic processes and theories in an open and encouraging manner.
Entry onto this qualification is subject to interview with a Liminal Space tutor.

30 hours of personal therapy are required before issuing the certification.
